Family law is personal. It affects parents, children, finances, safety, and the future of a family. Katerina Cutie understands that clients often come to Gantt Family Law during one of the most stressful and emotional times in their lives, and she believes every client deserves to feel heard, supported, and protected.

As a Law Clerk and law student at Campbell Law School, Katerina brings years of prior paralegal experience, a strong work ethic, and a deep passion for advocacy to the Gantt Family Law team. Before law school, she worked closely with attorneys and clients as a paralegal. That experience showed her how much of a difference strong legal support can make, but it also made her want to do more.

Katerina decided to become a lawyer because she wanted a greater platform to help people, advocate for their rights, and support them through difficult legal challenges.

Drawn to Family Law

Katerina first became interested in family law during her second year of law school after taking a family law elective. She later enrolled in a family law planning course and quickly realized that family law was an area where she could make a meaningful impact.

For Katerina, family law is not just about court filings or legal arguments. It is about people, children, safety, stability, and helping families find a way forward.

She is especially passionate about protecting children from the hardest parts of separation and divorce. Whether a case involves child custody, child support, domestic violence, separation, or financial issues after marriage, Katerina understands that the decisions made in family law cases can shape a family’s future for years to come.

A Strong Voice and a Listening Ear

Katerina believes clients need two things during a family law case: a listening ear and a strong voice.

She understands that clients may come into the process feeling scared, frustrated, overwhelmed, or unsure of what comes next. Her approach is grounded in honesty, compassion, and practical guidance. She believes that what is in a client’s best interest is not always what the client wants in the moment, and part of excellent legal support is helping clients understand their options in a way that feels respectful and validating.

Katerina values clear expectations and honest communication from the beginning. She believes clients should not be kept in the dark about their case, their options, or the possible outcomes.

Her goal is simple: help clients feel informed, supported, and part of a team.

She was drawn to the firm’s energy, personality, and commitment to client service. She also admits that seeing a Frenchie with its own attorney profile on the firm’s website helped win her over.

The team does not believe in unnecessary conflict or running up legal fees when there may be a better, more cost-effective path forward. Outside the Office

Katerina was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and moved to Raleigh, North Carolina to attend Campbell Law School.

Outside of work and school, she enjoys lifting weights, running, trying new restaurants, going to the movies with her partner, writing, listening to podcasts, and spending time with her cats. She believes physical strength and fitness help build mental and emotional strength as well.

At Campbell Law School, Katerina helped start the Family Law Student Association and has also volunteered with Campbell’s immigration clinic. She is expected to graduate in May 2027 and is excited to continue growing in the legal profession.

A favorite quote she lives by is:

“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”

That message reflects the way she approaches family law: even in difficult moments, there can be a way forward.

Family law clients often have to share some of the most private and painful parts of their lives. Katerina understands the trust that requires.
